J. Scott
Novy was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on March 16, 1961. He grew
up in Longview, Texas, graduating from Longview
High School in 1979. After graduating from Baylor University with a
B.B.A. in 1983 and a J.D. in 1986, he was admitted to the bar in Texas
in 1986. Mr. Novy has also been admitted to practice before the U.S.
District Court, Eastern District of Texas. From 1987 to 1992, he was
the Assistant District Attorney, first in McLennan County and then
in Gregg County, Texas. Having worked in criminal cases, both as a
prosecutor and a defense attorney, he fully understands the process
from both perspectives. Mr. Novy has handled more than 5,000 criminal
cases and more than 5,000 civil cases. Of those, approximately 100
were jury trials.
